You must always ensure that they have some large type of material to ensure good drainage for winter. You can use broken pots or polystyrene plant trays. Or even large gravel or stones.

Chimeneas:

La Hacienda Mexican Chimeneas are the most original patio heaters you can buy. Chimeneas have been part of the fabric of Mexican life since the 17th Century, originally being used as bread ovens. Nowadays they have become popular as outdoor fireplaces to create a little warmth and ambience on a cool evening. Light a fire in one as the evening chill sets in and the whole Chimenea warms up, radiating heat all around.

Although a chimenea's main function is as a heat source, it is possible to cook a variety of foods with it - each chimenea comes with a tried and tested recipe leaflet.

Our chimenea are all frost resistant, unlike many others being made. They are strong enough to withstand high temperatures, of a good thickness to be an effective heat source and can burn either wood or charcoal. Each comes with a wrought iron stand and a care/recipe leaflet. Other accessories are readily available such as lids and covers (to keep rainwater out) and grills (for cooking). With care, you chimenea will become a focal point in your garden for years to come.
