Alpines:
Alpines, or rockery plants, come in a
wide range of types that gives a variety
of plants for a particular situation.
Some spread out in dense mats whilst
others are more compact. Dwarf shrubs
and conifers allow further interest. The
general requirement for alpines is
plenty of light, free drainage and a
moisture retentive soil, but there are
exceptions if needed. We stock a range
of grits and gravels as well as products
that will hold moisture in the soil. We
also sell rockery stone, tubs, sink
gardens etc..

Bedding:
Woodlands sells all sorts of bedding
plants, many of which are grown on our
own nursery. We start off the year with
starter plants (see below). We also sell
a very wide range of seeds to grow the
more unusual or to give you the
satisfaction of growing your own
flowers. Then comes the summer bedding,
which is most peoples idea of bedding.
These colourful annuals (live for a
year) will continue flowering up until
the first frosts of winter. They
represent excellent value for money. We
also sell perennial varieties (live for
more than one year) that add extra
colour and form. In the autumn there are
other plants available that will flower
through the cold months and will give
colour in the spring when it is too cold
to plant out summer bedding. We also
sell ready planted tubs and hanging
baskets for quick effect.

Climbers:
Go vertical gardening! Climbers have a
multitude of uses such providing colour
and scent, shade and added privacy,
screening unsightly objects and covering
bare walls and fences. Some climbers
will cling to their support themselves
but others need help as they climb by
tendrils, twining stems, or just by
scrambling up through things. We can
supply all the expertise and materials
to grow your climbers to the optimum.
There's a climber to suit most needs.

Conifers:

Conifers grow in a whole host of sizes,
shapes and colours from bun-shaped
dwarfs for rockeries, tubs etc., up to
forest size trees for the larger garden.
They can be used to create all year
round interest. Also included are
conifers suitable for hedging. These can
give a dense evergreen screen that with
annual trimming also makes a wonderful
wind break. Please ask for further

Grasses:
Grasses are becoming increasingly
popular, and rightly so for they're easy
to grow. From the smallest tufted
variety for the rockery or border up to
the taller grasses there are a host of
varieties to suit. There are many
different colours of foliage and some
with very attractive seed heads. Then
there are the bamboos which again come
in a wide variety of types.

Heathers:
Heathers are tough little evergreen
shrubs providing an extra splash of
colour and interest when many other
plants are dormant. They associate well
with alpines, dwarf shrubs and conifers,
Rhododendrons and Azaleas. They need
plenty of light and an acid or peaty
soil. Clip them lightly just after
flowering to keep them dense and bushy.
Back
Herbaceous:

Herbaceous plants don't have a trunk or
permanent stems, but are usually
perennial (come up year after year).
They include the old Cottage Garden
varieties that we remember from
childhood plus many new and exciting
additions. There's a herbaceous
perennial for just about any situation
that you can think of.

the home than to add real plants. A

corner. We stock a wide range of popular
house plants plus seasonal favourites
and unusual types from around the world.

Shrubs:

'Shrubs' is a heading that covers a huge
range of plant material. There are
evergreen shrubs that hold leaves all
year round. There are also deciduous
shrubs that drop their leaves in the
autumn, often with wonderful autumn
colours. Somewhere there is a shrub that
will grow to the size that you require,
or have the flower colour that you
desire. We stock a broad range of
shrubs. Many flower colours, foliage
shades and textures, and plant sizes and
forms can be found on the Garden Centre.

Starter
Plants:
Start this summer's bedding scheme off
early with starter plants. By buying
your plants early in the season you can
have your tubs and hanging baskets
bursting with colour for as soon as the
weather is suitable, or just have colour
in the garden that much sooner. Saves
the bother and uncertainty of taking
cuttings and sowing seeds.
